Creating Class Systems

The Component Management System (CMS) allows you to manage reference data by using classification systems. To create a Class system, navigate to the CMS > Manage Class Systems > Create Class Systems screen.

For illustration of the functionality, consider adding a new class system, SDB_TEST.

To add a new class system,

  1. Click edit grid followed by add row.

  2. Key in the Class system code, Revision, Short Desc, Description, Node Label Display Options, and other details in the Create Class Systems screen.

  3. After providing the values, click Save . After successful completion, dialog box pops-up with success message and the class system is added as shown below.

Bulk edit classes or keywords

This functionality allows users to bulk edit all the classes and keywords of the class system. The functionality can be accessed by right-clicking at the top of the CMS Explorer.

  1. Click Bulk Edit > Classes to view all the classes present in the class system and add, update, or delete the classes.

  2. Click Bulk Edit > Keywords to view all the keywords for all the classes present in the class system and add, update, or delete the keywords.

Adding a class in the classification tree

This functionality provides the ability to create a class at various levels in the CMS classification tree. The functionality can be accessed through the Manage Class > Add Class command available on the shortcut menu of the classification tree view.

The Add Class dialog box can also be opened by clicking Add Class on the toolbar as shown below.

To add a class to CMS Component manager, The R-Hierarchy sheet should be referenced to know the hierarchy of the components.

For example, consider adding E205 Equipment Sample Data.xls to CMS:

The hierarchy for the component E205CompVerCylEqpSkAsm is:

EQUIPMENT

Process Equipment Asm

Vertical Vessels Asm

E205CompVerCylEqpSkAsm

To create the class E205CompVerCylEqpSkAsm under Vertical Vessels Asm as per the hierarchy, select the Add Class command from the menu or from the toolbar.

Select Add Class command and key in values for Class Name, Short Desc and Description as shown below.

After adding the class, the following should be assigned to the Class:

  • Group (LOV from S.10.02 Commodity Groups)

  • Part (LOV from S.10.03 Commodity Part)

  • Commodity Code (LOV from S.30.01 Commodity Codes)

  • Data table (LOV from SP3D.10.02 Sheets)

Assigning Group to class:

Click the LOV option of the group field to assign the required group to the class being created.

Assigning Part to the class:

Click the LOV option of the part field to assign the required part to the class being created.

Assigning Commodity Code to class:

Click the LOV option of the commodity code field to assign the required commodity code to the class being created.

Assigning S3D Data Table to class:

Click the LOV option of the Smart 3D Data Table field to assign the required Smart 3D Data Table to the class being created.

After selecting values from the LOV, click Save to add the class in the tree. After successful completion, a dialog box pops up with success message and closes. The class will be added to CMS.

Similarly, the classes can be updated or deleted at various levels in the CMS classification tree. The functionality can be accessed through the Manage Class.

Adding a Property to an Existing Class

This functionality completes the definition of a class. After adding a class in the classification tree, properties (Smart Reference Data table or Smart Reference Data attribute) can be associated using the Manage Properties > Assign Properties command. The shortcut key for the Assign Properties command is F4.

Let us consider assigning properties to the class E205COMPVERCYLEQPSKASM_S3D.

CMS CLASS PROPERTIES: Once the Assign Properties Dialog Box opens, the required attributes should be added in the Assign Properties screen. To assign attributes to the class, prefix the attribute name with "E_" and paste to the Assign Properties screen.

The property type must be chosen as attribute or table. The property type can only be selected as attribute for all the attributes, and property type for attributes with code list values can be table. The figure below shows the Assign Properties window after the properties are assigned.

For example:

  • Property Type Table is selected for attributes "MirrorBehaviorOption" and "ProcessEqTypes4" because these are code list values.

  • Property Type Attribute is assigned to rest of the attributes.

CMS Class Dependent Properties: After adding the CMS class properties, CMS class Dependent Properties should be assigned in a similar way.

After creating the Class Nodes with Properties, CMS will generate the required configurations under SDB_ENT_5022. Users need to move these configurations to the required Data Table configurations.

Adding new valids values for an existing property/Creating new articles in an existing class

Adding a new value to a property results in the generation of a new ident for the class. This functionality is availed in the CMS Component Manager Screen through CMS > CMS Component Manager. Navigate to the CMS component Manager.

Let us consider adding values to the properties for the class CESVVESSEL2PLATFASM. Double click on the class to access the multiple ident view.

Edit the grid and add the new values manually for the properties from LOV or you can also copy and paste the data from the excel worksheet directly. After adding the required values, click save to create new ident codes.

Login for User SPRDSDB to Discipline ENTRP_CONT

A new login for the SDB user SPRDSDB is provided for the discipline ENTRP_CONT. If the user wants to log in to the ENTRP_CONT discipline using the SPRDSDB user after migrating to the latest SDB version, the SDB admin must provide access to the user on the A.20.06.01 … for Product Groups screen.

Attributes for Enterprise Content Data

Enterprise content attributes supplied with SDB are declared on the Attributes screen in the attribute group CMS_XML.

Commodity Rule for Enterprise Content Data

The commodity rule PLC_RULE is delivered to create commodity codes for Enterprise content data. A new table PLC_TAB_SHT_NAMES is used in this commodity rule. The table PLC_TAB_SHT_NAMES has detail values - one for each of the Enterprise content classes created in the CMS module (see above sections).

Parts for Enterprise Content Data

The parts CABL, CONDUIT, CTRY, EQUIP, HVAC, MHEC, MHEQ and HS are supplied for creating the Enterprise content commodity codes.

Commodity Codes for Enterprise Content Data

Enterprise content commodity codes are supplied with SDB. A single commodity code is created for individual Enterprise content classes created in the CMS module.
