A Beam to Beam support uses the following attributes to define the parts that are included in the support. The support has parts at both the ends and suffixes 1 and 2 are used to specify the parts on either ends.

Suffix 1 - specifies parts at the end of the Beam connected to the primary supporting structure

Suffix 2 - specifies parts at the end of the Beam connected to the secondary supporting structure

For example, EndPlatePart1 and EndPlatePart2.

Implementation Details

IJUAhsBeamPt::
BeamPart

Specifies the part number or the part class of the Hanger Beam steel part to use.

Beam is a mandatory part. You must specify either a BeamPart or a BeamRule.

IJUAhsBeamAng::
BeamAngle

Specifies the angle of rotation for the Beam cross section.

The following codelist values from the hsSteelOrientationAngle sheet in the HS_S3DAssy_Codelist workbook are supported:

0, 90, 180, 270.

IJUAhsReflectTrun::
ReflectBeam

Specifies whether or not the Beam cross section must be reflected about the Beams y-axis.

False

Trunnion Support - Reflect Trunnion - False

True

Trunnion Support - Reflect Trunnion - True

IJUAhsB2BBeam::
BackToBackBeam

Specifies whether to place the two Beams in a back to back configuration.

False - Only a single Beam is included.

Beam To Beam Support - Back To Back Beam - False

True - Two Beams are included in the support.

Beam To Beam Support - Back To Back Beam - True

IJUAhsEndPltPt(1&2)::
EndPlatePart(1&2)

Specifies the part number or the part class to use for the End Plate.

EndPlatePart1 - end of Beam connected to the primary supporting structure.

EndPlatePart2 - end of Beam connected to the secondary supporting structure.

The End Plate is an optional part. Leave this attribute blank to exclude an End Plate.

IJUAhsEndPltAng::
EndPlateAngle

Specifies the angle of rotation for the End Plate about the axis of the Beam.

IJUAhsBoltPt::
BoltPart

Specifies the part number or the part class of a Bolt part to use for bolting the End Plate.

  • Bolts are optional parts. Leave these attributes blank to exclude the End Plate.

  • If the Bolts are included, then the Bolts are not modeled but are included as implied parts.

IJUAhsBoltQty::BoltQty

Specifies the number of implied Bolt parts to include in the support.

IJUAhsClipPt(1&2)::
ClipPart(1&2)

Specifies the part number or the part class of a Hanger Beam steel part to use for the support.

  • The Beam Clip is an optional part. Leave these attributes blank to exclude a Beam Clip.

  • The Clip is connected to the web of the Beam. The following Clip cross-sections are supported:

    L / Angle

    Beam To Beam Support - Clip Part/Rule - L/Angle

    T / WT

    Beam To Beam Support - Clip Part/Rule - T/WT

  • For back-to-back Beams, the software places the Clips on the outside of the web and a single Clip is placed for each Beam.

    L / Angle

    Beam To Beam Support - Back To Back Beams - L/Angle

    T / WT

    Beam To Beam Support - Clip Part/Rule -Back To Back Beams - T/WT

IJUAhsClipQty:: ClipQuantity

Specifies a codelist value that determines the number of Clips to include.

  • For back-to-back Beams, only a single Clip is included for each Beam irrespective of the ClipQuality.

  • If the Clip cross-section is T / WT, a second Clip cross-section is not included, irrespective of the ClipQuality.

  • A second Clip is included only if the Clip cross-section is L / Angle and a Clip is placed on either side of the web, as shown in the following image:

    Beam To Beam Support - Back To Back Beams - L/Angle

IJUAhsClipBoltPt:: ClipBoltPart

Specifies the part number or the part class of a Bolt part to use for bolting the Clip to the Beam.

  • Clip Bolts are optional parts. Leave these attributes blank to exclude Bolts.

  • If the Clip Bolts are included, then the Bolts are not modeled but are instead included as implied parts.

IJUAhsClipBoltQty:: ClipBoltQty

Specifies the number of implied Bolt parts intended for use.

IJUAhsVertPltPt(1&2):: VertPlatePart(1&2)

Specifies the Plate part number or the part class to use for the vertical Plate.

VertPlatePart1 - end of Beam connected to the primary supporting structure.

VertPlatePart2 - end of Beam connected to the secondary supporting structure.

To select a part number using the VertPlateRule, do not type any value for this property.

The vertical Plate is required if the Beam connection is set to VerticalPlate.

  • If the Beam connection is set to vertical Plate, then the corresponding plate part is included in the support.

  • If the Beam connection is not vertical Plate, the software ignores these attributes.
