  1. Click Markup > Draw > Text .

  2. Click in the display to define a location for the text.

  3. Enter your text.

  4. If needed, click to select the text and drag the text to a new location. Then, click to place the text.

  • To change the size of text you are adding, use SHIFT and the up arrow key to increase the font size or SHIFT and the down arrow key to decrease the font size. Use these commands after you type your text but before you place it with the mouse. These commands will not work after the text has been placed and taken on the markup layer color.

  • To rotate the text you are adding, use SHIFT and the right or left arrow keys to rotate the text in 15-degree increments. Use these commands after you type your text but before you place it with the mouse. These commands will not work after the text has been placed and taken on the markup layer color.

  • A number of text editing features are available while you are typing your text. For example, you can use the backspace and delete keys as in any text-editing tools. Use the arrow keys, to move the cursor inside the text. The HOME key moves the cursor to the beginning of the present line, and pressing CTRL + HOME moves the cursor to the beginning of the entire text. Similarly, the END key moves the cursor to the end of the present line, and CTRL + END moves the cursor to the end of the entire text. Finally, you can press SHIFT + ENTER to move the cursor to the next line.

  • You cannot select text or text characters in the text box.

  • To place the cursor in the text box, you must double-click the text in the box.

Once you click to place the text in the markup layer, you cannot edit the text. You can update the text after the layer is created (in other words, close and reopen the file containing the text box element).
