Smart Instrumentation Version
2016 SP1 (11.0.1)

For SmartPlant Instrumentation versions prior to version 2009 service pack 2, you must first upgrade to 2009 service pack 2. After upgrading to version 2009 service pack 2 you must run the checkdb.exe and rebuild stored procedures and triggers. For versions of SmartPlant Instrumentation 2009 service pack 2 and higher you can upgrade directly to version 2016.

After the SmartPlant Instrumentation 2016 database upgrade is complete, you must upgrade the Microsoft SQL Server to version 2014 SP2.

In order to upgrade to Microsoft SQL Server 2014 SP2, you must already have installed Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2012 or 2014.

Before starting the initialize process make sure that all the required drivers are available and configured on the local machine where SmartPlant Instrumentation 2016 and the Microsoft SQL 2014 SP2 client are installed.

In addition to having Microsoft SQL 2014 SP2 client installed on your local machine, you must also have Microsoft SQL client 2008 or 2012 installed on your local machine (the version depends on the source database you are upgrading from).

2008_2014

  • Without the correct drivers, the initialize process will fail.

  • If you have already upgraded to Microsoft SQL Server 2014 SP2, all you need to do is install SmartPlant Instrumentation 2016 and run the upgrade on SmartPlant Instrumentation.

  • For the correct SQL Server Native Client version, refer to: Intergraph PP&M Compatibility Matrix, available on Intergraph's Smartsupport website.
