To revise a document in the current scope configuration, the document must be signed off to set the document revision state to CURRENT.

To make any further edits, you must revise the document to create a new WORKING revision in the project.

  1. Select a current revision document to revise and select Actions > Edit > Revise.

You cannot revise multiple documents simultaneously.

  2. If necessary, type a new title, revision scheme, or issue purpose.

  3. If necessary, select CHOOSE FILES, and select additional files to attach to the new working version.

If you want to bring markups related to the previous version of the attached files forward and include them on the new working version, select Copy Markups.

  4. Click REVISE.

To attach a file that references other files, you must ensure that the nested reference file level is less than or equal to the maximum number of nested reference files allowed set in User Preferences. For more information, see Change general user preferences.

If the document to be revised has attached to it a master file that is associated with out-of-date reference files, after clicking REVISE, an Update Reference Relationships window appears. In the window, you can update the reference relationship of the attached reference files. For more information, see Update reference relationships.

  • If a master file references a file that is attached to more than one document, you can resolve the duplicates by selecting and attaching the appropriate reference file in the Reference Files Details window. For more information, see Attach master file which references other files.

  • If a master file references files that do not exist in the database, the names of the missing files are displayed in the Reference Files Details window. For more information, see Attach master file which references other files.

  • When you revise a document, the revision scheme creates the document as the next major revision by default. However, you can change the revision scheme so that it revises a document to the next minor revision. For more information, see parameter 12 in the Revise client API.

  • If you want to revise a higher configuration or plant Current Revision document to a project, see Revise a document to a project.
