The Server Manager Edit > New command allows you to create new sites using the Server Manager New Site Wizard. The Server Manager New Site Wizard allows you to create new sites using new or existing Oracle and SQL Server databases.

  • The operation of the wizard differs depending on the type of site you are creating.

  • You must have IIS installed on your computer before you can use this command.

  • We recommend that you add and delete sites only through the Server Manager application. Do not use IIS to delete any virtual directories created using this command.

  • In the License Server Information page, you must enter a secure administrator password for the Authorization Server. Make a note of this password so you can access the Intergraph Authorization Server later. You can change the Authorization Server administrator's password anytime using Server Manager. However, you must know the original password if you want to change the password.

  • Creating a new site also creates a set of virtual directories in Internet Information Service (IIS) on your computer.

  • When you create a new site, the SQL log files and batch files are created in the Temp\ServerManager directory of the default path. For example, C:\SmartPlant Foundation Server Files\Temp\ServerManager\DatabaseScripts.

  • The wizard logs information about site creation in a log file named SiteCreation#date_time#.log, where #date_time# represents the date and time of the database creation. For example, SiteCreation6.20.2014_3.46.log. The SiteCreation log file is located in the Temp\ServerManager directory of the default path. For example, C:\SmartPlant Foundation Server Files\Temp\ServerManager\[SiteName].

  • You can allow the wizard to automatically create local users on the operating system, set them to run as the identity of the related application pool, and set permissions for the users. If you prefer to do this manually, see Set up IIS Application Pools and User Accounts Manually.

  • If you create a new site for a shared object model database or create a site that points to an existing shared object model database, you must set the site's CDWEnabled property to False.

  • The operation of the wizard differs depending on the type of site you are creating.

  • If you want to create a new site using a manually configured connection to a SQL server database, select the Configure SQL server connection manually option in the New Site Wizard > Database Platform section and enter the connection string in the Enter the SQL server connection string option in New Site Wizard > Database Settings section.
