The license management client software can be hosted on the application server or on this optional license server. If the license management client software is hosted on the application server, you must ensure that the software prerequisites listed here are also installed on that server.

Hardware Recommendations

  • 2 core high-end server processor

  • 8 GB RAM

  • 5 GB free disk space for software installation

  • 1000 BaseT or higher network interface

  • DVD drive access, either locally or through a network connection (for installation media)

    Hardware sizing, especially for servers, depends on many factors such as the number of concurrent users per site and other software that is running on the machine.

Supported Operating Systems

Microsoft Windows Server 2022 (64-bit) Datacenter or Standard edition (for Update 36 onwards)

Microsoft Windows Server 2019 (64-bit) Datacenter or Standard edition is supported for Update 12 to 45.

  • The Web Server (IIS) role must be installed. In addition to the default settings, include:

    • Common HTTP Features > Static Content

    • Security > Basic Authentication

    • Application Development

      • .NET Extensibility 4.8

      • ASP.NET 4.8

      For Windows Server 2019, .NET Extensibility 4.7 and ASP.NET 4.7 are required

  • The .NET Framework 4.8 feature must be installed. In addition to the default settings, include:

    • WCF Services

      • HTTP Activation

      • Named Pipe Activation

      • TCP Activation

    For Windows Server 2019, the .NET Framework 4.7 feature must be installed.

  • The Windows Process Activation Service feature must be installed. In addition to the default settings, include:

    • Process Model

    • Configuration APIs

  • The Distributed Transaction Coordinator is now installed by default as part of the operating system. This service must be enabled and running for support of 32-bit COM+ application installation.

  • Windows Server is supported with UAC enabled and set to Level 3 (Default).

Software Prerequisites

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8

  • One of the following must be installed:

    • Intergraph Smart Licensing 2019 client software

      • If installing Intergraph Smart Licensing, you must also install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015-2019, 64-bit (required by the Smart Licensing software on whatever server hosts the Licensing service as of IM Update 18 and later)

    • SmartPlant License Manager 2012 client software

      If installing SmartPlant License Manager 2012 client software on the server, you must also install one of the following database clients, depending on what database product you are using:

      • Oracle 19c 64-bit client software (required if using Oracle database server for SmartPlant License Manager)

      • Microsoft SQL Server Shared Features: Client Tools Connectivity, Client Tools Backwards Compatibility, Client Tools SDK, Management Tools - Basic, Management Tools - Complete, and SQL Client Connectivity SDK (required if using SQL Server database server for SmartPlant License Manager)

  • A web browser is required in order to view the online documentation from this server.
