Environment variables are not supported when setting up licensing for SmartPlant Foundation.

A Smart Licensing administrator can specify environment variables on licensing clients to track license usage for specific users. The advantage of using environment variables is that an administrator can deploy automatic scripts or use custom product launching utilities to add or change the values of these variables.

  • Environment variables can be defined at the system level or user level. If the environment variable(s) is added at both the system and user levels, the user level takes precedence over the system level.

  • Environment variables are not honored when licenses are checked out.

  • Environment variable names and values are case-insensitive; in other words, you can have any combination of upper- and lowercase. This is true for the SPLM environment variables as well as the Smart Licensing environment variables.
