The software can find table data. You use the Find and Modify dialog box to define search criteria based on an alpha or numeric string or substring. After you find the data, you can modify it using one of the following methods:

  • Replace all or part of the string with a user-defined replacement string

  • Replace all or part of the string using lookup table data

  • Factor all or part of the string by multiplying it by a user-defined number

Find Table Data

  1. Click Find on the Main toolbar.

  2. In the Find what box, type the string or substring to locate.

  3. Select an option in the Look in list.

  4. Click Find Next to search for the specified string.

  5. Continue clicking Find Next to locate all occurrences.

Find and Replace Table Data

  1. Click Find on the Main toolbar.

  2. In the Find what box, type the string or substring to locate.

  3. Select an option in the Look in list.

  4. Select the Modify tab.

  5. On the Replace tab, type the string or substring to locate in the Find what box.

  6. In the Replace with box, type the new replacement string or substring.

  7. Select an option in the Replace what list.

  8. Select an option in the Look in list.

  9. Click Find Next to search for the specified string and then do one of the following:

    1. To modify on an item-by-item basis, click Replace and then click Find Next again. Repeat this process until all you have found and replaced all occurrences.

    2. To modify all occurrences in the table simultaneously, click Replace All.

Find and Modify Table Data Using a Lookup Table

  1. Click Find on the Main toolbar.

  2. Select the Modify tab, and then select the LookUp tab.

  3. Type the string or substring to locate in the Find what box.

  4. Select a table name in the Lookup table list.

    The Lookup table list only contains the names of those lookup tables that you have used within the current session. If the table does not appear in the list, click Lookup Tables and then click More on the Lookup Tables dialog box.

  5. If needed, type an alternative replacement string in the Default box. If the software is unable to locate the replacement item in the specified lookup table, the Default is used instead.

  6. Select an option in the Replace what list.

  7. Select an option in the Look in list.

  8. Click Find Next to search for the specified string and then do one of the following:

    1. To modify on an item-by-item basis, click Lookup and then click Find Next again. Repeat this process until all you have found and modified all occurrences.

    2. To modify all occurrences in the table simultaneously, click Lookup All.

Find and Modify Table Data Using Factoring

  1. Click Find on the Main toolbar.

  2. Select the Modify tab, and then select the Factor tab.

  3. Type the numeric string to locate in the Find what box.

  4. Type a numeric value in the Factor by box.

  5. Select an option in the Factor what list.

  6. Select an option in the Look in list.

  7. Click Find Next to search for the specified string and then do one of the following:

    1. To modify on an item-by-item basis, click Factor and then click Find Next again. Repeat this process until all you have found and modified all occurrences.

    2. To modify all occurrences in the table simultaneously, click Factor All.

  • You can also click Edit > Find.

  • The Find command is enabled only when the Text Maps or References Tables tabs are active.

  • You cannot undo any of the modifications you make using the Find and Modify dialog box.

  • Select Match case for the search to be case-sensitive.
