  1. Click New New. Alternatively, click File > New.

    The New dialog box displays.

  2. Type a name for the new fileset in the Name box.

  3. Click Add Folder.

The Add Folder dialog box displays.

SHARED Tip Click Add to search for and select files on an individual basis.

  4. Click Browse, navigate to the folder of piping data files to add, and then click OK. Alternatively, type the full path location in the Folder box.

  5. Select the file types to include and whether to include their respective sub-folders. During fileset creation, the software processes only the file types that you specify.

  6. After you have selected a valid folder and at least one file type, click OK.

  7. If needed, select Run GED Script, and type the full path location and file name of the required .xml file. Alternatively, click Browse, and navigate to the file.

  8. In the Grouping section, click Add.

The Add Grouping dialog box displays.

  9. Use the Group by list to specify how the files are to be grouped, and then click OK. You can group by Folder, Physical Connectivity, and by any Pipeline Attribute defined in the current project. For more information about grouping criteria, read Add and delete grouping criteria.

  10. Click OK to create the fileset definition.

When processing completes, the software displays the finished fileset in the Main window.

  • To add multiple grouping criteria, repeat step 6 as many times as needed. The software applies the grouping criteria in order from top to bottom. Files are grouped initially by the first criterion. Next, each group is further sub-grouped by the second criterion, and then each is sub-grouped by the third criterion. The process continues until the software has applied all the criteria.

  • If you selected Run GED Script, the software generates a log file, GED_I-Tools_OnImport.log, and saves it in the TEMP folder on the local computer.

  • During processing, the software analyzes each of the files to determine their relationships to one another. For larger data sets, this process can take several minutes to complete.
