In an integrated environment, engineering data is organized using a plant breakdown structure (PBS). For example, a PBS for organizing plant data might be plant/area/system/subsystem or plant/area/unit.
When you install and configure SPO/E Core on top of SmartPlant Foundation, the PBS hierarchy defined in the SPO/E Core schema is used to create the PBS hierarchy in the SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client. This PBS hierarchy is communicated to integrated authoring tools when the PBS is published by SmartPlant Foundation and the authoring tools retrieve it.
You may choose to use the default PBS hierarchy as defined in the SPO/E Core schema, or you may implement a new PBS based on your specific requirements using the Schema Editor.
For more information on PBS hierarchy and plant naming guidelines, see PBS hierarchy and Plant Naming Guidelines.
Prerequisites for creating an alternate PBS
Before creating an alternate PBS, ensure that following prerequisite software is installed on your system:
-
Compatible version of SmartPlant Foundation.
-
Compatible version of SPO SANTA.
