Configure the Smart P&ID database - SmartPlant Foundation - Version 2019 (10.0) - Administration & Configuration

Smart P&ID can retrieve tags using the CTA system. To get the item tag in Smart P&ID, you must create a few property definitions.

1. Click Start > Programs > SmartPlant Engineering Manager > Data Dictionary Manager.

2. Click Database Tables on the left pane and select the Plant Item table.

   

3. Click Add Property icon on the toolbar.

4. In the Add Property dialog box, define the properties as shown in the following figure:

   

5. Click Database Item Types on the left pane select item type Instrument.

6. Change the Permission value of the Item Tag property to Write Both in the Property dialog box.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other item types, such as, Equipment, Nozzle, Mechanical, PipingComp, Pipieline, PipeRun, SignalRun, PlantItemGroup, EquipmentOther, Exchanger, Vessel, and EquipComponent.

   For PipingComp item type, define these additional properties in SmartPlant P&ID:

   • PipingCompPrefix

   • TagSequenceNo

8. Save the changes and close Data Dictionary Manager.
