  • Office Integration feature is supported only on a client computer.

  • Both HTTP and HTTPS SmartPlant Foundation sites are supported for Office integration.

  • If your computer has a subset of Microsoft Office suite installed, then you must register the Office Primary Interop Assemblies (PIA). For more information, see Register Office Primary Interop Assemblies (PIA).

The Office Integration feature allows you to create or update SPX documents directly from any of the Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The Office Integration feature has two components, the Microsoft Office Add-in component and the Drag-drop component.

The Microsoft Office Add-in component is a cyclical process where a document can originate in Microsoft Office, and be saved in SmartPlant Foundation, then re-opened. Alternatively, a document saved within SmartPlant Foundation can be opened within the Microsoft Office Add-in, then checked back into SmartPlant Foundation.

The Drag-drop component enables you to relate files directly including Microsoft Outlook e-mails, by dragging them directly onto a document object in SPO/E Core.
