Creating a View with Several Widgets - PAS Dashboard - 3.6 - Help - Intergraph

Once the widgets you want to use in your view are defined, you can create a view and add those widgets to your view. You can also create widget groups in a view. Each widget group adds a section to the view and that section provides the widgets included in that widget group. The PAS Dashboard allows you to create multiple views so you have the information you need organized the way you want.

You can also create popup views. When users drill-down into displayed data, a widget can display a popup view. You can configure a popup view to include multiple widgets. This powerful capability allows you to display the information you need in the context you want. The popup views are listed on the left in the Views page below normal views.

In addition, you can link a widget to another widget, which replaces the displayed widget based on the level of the object selected in the tree. This unique feature provides greater flexibility in how you show information at various tree locations. For example, you can provide trend widgets at higher levels that allow you to compare aggregated data from child locations of the tree. At the lower data or leaf locations of the tree, you can provide a stacked bar to show a more detailed breakdown of elements that make up the aggregated data. Linking widgets within a view allows you to implement this flexible, powerful approach.

To create a view:

1. Open the configuration page. For more information, see Opening the Configuration Page.

2. Click Views at the top of the window. The Views page is displayed. This visual editor allows you to resize and arrange widgets by directly interacting with a preview of the widgets within the view.

   

3. Click the plus sign (+) next to the type of view you want to create, Normal Views or Popup Views.

4. Type a name for the new view, and then click OK. The new view is now selected in the Normal Views or the Popup Views list, and the properties for that view are displayed on the right.

   Normal views are listed alphabetically in the list at the top of the PAS Dashboard. If you want to force a view to be listed at the top of the list, start the view name with ~#~, where # is the position in the list relative to the other views that are numbered in this way. These characters are not displayed as part of the view name in the PAS Dashboard. For example, if you name views ~1~Daily View, ~2~Average View, Monthly View, and Annual View, the list of views at the top of the PAS Dashboard shows the following views in this order:

   Daily View
   Average View
   Annual View
   Monthly View

5. If you are creating a normal view, select whether the view is Public or Private, and specify whether you want the view limited to specific Windows Groups.

6. If you want to add a widget group to the view, complete the following steps for each widget group you want to add:

   1. Click Add Widget Group.

   2. Type a name for the new widget group, and then click OK.

7. If you want to add one or more widgets to the view, complete the following steps for each widget you want to add:

   1. Click Add Widget.

   2. In the Select Widgets list, click one or more widgets you want to add.

   3. When you are done adding widgets, close the Select Widgets list.

   4. Use the visual editor on the right to drag and drop the widgets where you want them. For example, if you created one or more widget groups, you can drag each widget to the widget group you want to contain that widget. You can also drag the bottom-right corner of a widget to set the width and height you want for that widget.

   5. If you want to link a widget to another widget, click the Link button in the top-left corner of the widget. Select the linked widget, when to display each widget, and then click Save.

8. Click Save on the Views page to save the view settings to the database and assemble the view for use.
