The technique for placing a support weld is slightly different from that of a normal weld. When you place a support weld, you must use the Add Support Weld dialog box to specify the category type and to define the category and schedule. Optionally, when you place a trunnion weld, you can also define as weld for the optional end place, as well as the angle for the trunnion.
-
On the Welds toolbar, click Place Support Weld . Alternatively, right-click in the Graphics window, and select Support Weld.
-
On the pipeline, select the support on which to add the support welds.
The Add Support Weld dialog box displays.
-
Select the support weld type in the Weld Description list.
-
Use the remaining dialog box options to define other properties as needed, and then click OK.
-
The options that appear in the Add Support Weld dialog box depend upon the type of support weld that you select in the Weld Description list.
-
When multiple supports exist at the same location, use the following technique to ensure that you place the weld on the correct support:
-
SHIFT+ Right-click over the supports to display a list of all nearby components.
-
Highlight the appropriate support, and then select Add > Support Weld.
-
In the Add Support Weld dialog box, define the support weld properties as needed and then click OK.
