Tablet Mode > Clip

Allows you to hide objects or portions of a model to focus on a specific area. Smart Review supports clipping and inverse clipping. Inverse clipping hides objects inside a clipping volume and shows all objects outside the clipping volume.

Show me

  1. If you already have an active clipping volume in Classic mode, you can use that clipping volume in Tablet mode.
    -OR-
Set up your view to display all required objects in your clipping area.

  2. Tap Clip .

The 3D wireframe box with six clipping planes displays and surrounds the selected objects. All objects outside the 3D wireframe box become hidden.
    -OR-
If you do not select any objects, three-plane clipping displays in the center of the current view.

The Clip control displays at the bottom of the view. The Clip control Turns clipping adjustment on (expanded control) and off (collapsed control). When expanded, use control commands to modify the clipping volume size, location, and the number of clipping planes. For command descriptions, see Clip Control.

  3. To turn clipping adjustment on and off, tap Clip on the Clip control. A collapsed Clip control indicates clipping adjustment is off. With adjustment off, you can change your view and perform other operations such as Isolate, Measure, and Search.

  4. To resize the clipping volume, tap to select and then drag a face or a corner of the 3D wireframe box. Selected planes display in red.

  5. Continue using commands in the Clip control to perform the following actions:

    • To remove a clipping plane, tap the box face to remove and then tap Remove Clipping Plane . To remove adjacent clipping planes, tap a corner of the wireframe box and then tap Remove Clipping Plane . If you remove all clipping planes, Smart Review automatically turns clipping off.

    • To inverse clip (hide objects inside the 3D wireframe box), tap Inverse on the Clip control. Continue adjusting the clipping volume as required.

You can also double-tap an area outside the model to turn inverse clipping on and off.

    • To undo your changes, tap Reset Clipping . The software resets the clipping volume so that any hidden planes or clipping size adjustments return to their original state.

  6. To create a different clipping volume, tap Clip in the vertical command list to turn off clipping and remove the 3D wireframe box display. Select objects for the next clip volume, and then turn clipping back on.

  7. To turn off clipping, tap Clip again in the vertical command list.
