The following steps outline the overall Smart 3D-to-Smart Review publishing process when you use the Smart 3D Save as SmartPlant Review command for your 3D Model Data component. For more information, refer to Setup a 3D Model Data Component and Save as SmartPlant Review File in the Smart 3D Reports User's Guide.

The use of the SmartPlant 3D Label Selector utility is optional. You do not have to run the utility to view labels in Smart Review. If you have a 3D model with many labels, it is useful to limit the label display to make viewing in Smart Review more efficient.

  1. Locate the .vue file generated from Smart 3D.

  2. Locate the P3DComponent.xml file associated to the exported files and copy it to one of the Smart Review file load locations:

  • The folder containing the Smart 3D project files ([project].vue and [project].xml)

  • The folder where the Smart Review executable file is installed.

  1. Optionally, use the SmartPlant 3D Label Selector utility (SP3DLabelSelector.exe) to generate a new SPRSP3dLabels.bin template file. For more information, see Use the SmartPlant 3D Label Selector Utility.

Smart Review provides an SPRSP3dLabels.bin file to support the display of sample models. You can modify this file, but we recommend that you create a new template file specific to your display requirements.

  2. Edit the MapClassIDToLevelDisciplines.txt file if you are required to change a discipline name or a level number.

Smart Review reserves Level 1 for unmapped components. You can use "Find Level 1" search criteria to find any unmapped components. Thus, Smart Reviewincrements by one the level numbers specified in the SP3D mapping file (either the legacy MapComponentsToDisciplines.txt file or the replacement MapClassIdToLevelDisciplines.txt file). For example,  the P3DCable component is specified as Level 1 but displays inside Smart Review as Level 2. Change the P3DCable component to be specified as Level 0 to have it mapped to Level 1.

  3. From Smart Review, select File > Open.

  4. Select the .vue file, and then click Open.

  5. Click the SmartPlant 3D tab in the Create Project dialog box.

  6. Set the following files:

  • Schema - Browse to the P3DComponent.xml file that was generated by the Smart 3D project files.

  • Map components to disciplines - Browse to select the MapClassIdToLevelDisciplines.txt file. If you edited the mapping file, you must select that file when you are opening your .vue file in Smart Review. Otherwise, the default file delivered with Smart Review is automatically selected.

  • To work with Smart Review sample files, Smart Review still supports the MapComponentsToDisciplines.txt file. This file is delivered with Smart Review in the samples folder.

  • Relationship mapping - Browse to select the RelationshipMapping.txt file provided with Smart Review. You may need to edit this text file to make the information display in Smart Review. See Troubleshoot Label Display Problems.

  • Optional label template - Browse to select the SPRSP3dLabels.bin file generated if you used the SmartPlant 3D Label Selector utility to create a new template file. Otherwise, leave this option blank.

  1. Click OK to open the model in Smart Review. This automatically generates a new .mdb2 label database for the project.

You can also use the SmartPlant 3D Label Selector Utility with SmartPlant Review Publisher to create an .mdb2 label database containing the label data.
