By default, Smart 3D publishes all label data in System International (SI) units. The UoM (Units of Measure) Converter utility enables you to change the units of measurement for labels in Smart 3D project files that are imported into Smart Review. For example, you can change temperature measurement from Kelvin to Fahrenheit, and meters to feet for distance measurements.

The UoM Converter utility, accessed from Start > Intergraph Smart Review > UoM Converter, uses the Smart 3D-generated schema file, P3DComponent.xml. This file contains metadata information that lists the attributes and types of measurement units used in the file, and how they relate to each other. The UoM Converter utility reads and displays information from this file so that you can edit the required units of measurement. Once you set the new units of measurement, the UoM Converter utility generates the UoMConversions.xml file, which is read by Smart Review the next time the project file is opened and a new label database (MDB2) file is generated. Your changes are reflected in the Smart Review Text window or the Properties dialog box when you select graphic elements using the updated units of measure.

If you used the SPRDirect method in Smart 3D to generate the VUE and MDB2 files, you do not need to use the UoM Converter utility. With SPRDirect, attributes (custom and standard) and measurement units are set up in the Smart 3D application and generated in an MDB2 database file. For more information about using SPRDirect, see Using SPRDirect in the Smart 3D Integration Guide.
