Tools > Collision Detection > Detect Collision

After you perform collision detection on selected objects or display sets, you can review the results and save the information to a report file. Use any standard HTML or text editor to open the file. You can copy its contents to other applications such as MS Excel and Word to customize the report.

Generate the Report

  1. After you have run collision detection, click Next or Previous on the Detect Collision dialog box to cycle through each collision.
    OR
Click Display All to highlight all collisions in the Main view.

Each collision is highlighted in the Main view. A reported collision is a temporary representation of the primary object or display set in its collided position.

  2. Click Show Details.

Smart Review expands the Detect Collisions dialog box.

Set the required Fit option determines the view when you click Next or Previous to cycle through each collision.

A snapshot of each collision view is taken at the current view angle and is saved to a thumbnail graphic in the collision detection report.

  3. Select the Collision run number you want to review.

The collisions for that run are listed in the Report section of the dialog box.

  4. Select any required display and report options.

  5. Click Save.

  6. From the Save Collision Detection Report dialog box, select the name and location for the generated report file, and then click Save.

Smart Review displays the report generation status in the status bar and in the Text view.

  • The time it takes to generate a report depends on the number of collisions. You can press ESC to end the report generation process at any time.

  • Click Display All to list all collisions with the current view angle. If the collisions are not clearly visible, try adjusting the view cone to get a better view.

  • To zoom in on a collision, click the list view. Then, click the collision that you want to view. You also can use the arrow keys to move through and view the collisions in the List view.

  • Collision detection reports show any moved display sets in their current locations. The current location of a display set may or may not be the same location of the display set at the time collision detection was run.
