Specifies dependencies between Display Set animations to determine the playback start and end time. Dependencies are the relationships among Display Set animations that determine the order in which the software plays the animations.

You create a relationship group when you select two or more Display Set animations to connect. When you create a relationship group, you assign the group a relationship type. The Animation Sequencer supports the following relationship types:

  • Start-To-Start

  • End-To-Start

  • Start-To-End

  • End-To-End

The Start-To-Start and End-To-End relationship types are also referred to as parallel relationship types. Serial relationship types are Start-To-End and End-To-Start.

Ungrouped or independent Display Set animations are those that are not in a relationship group.

Capabilities provided by the Sequencer to support this key feature include:

  • Selecting multiple, consecutive Display Set animations using the SHIFT key.

  • Changing the start time, end time, and duration of Display Set animations in a relationship group to automatically change all related Display Set animations. For example, when you move a Display Set to a different start date, the Animation Sequencer dynamically updates and changes any related or dependent Display Set animations.

Relationship Type Description

The Animation Sequencer supports the following types of dependency relationships:

Start-To-Start

Specifies that the start time of the earliest selected Display Set animation determines the start time for the remaining Display Set animations. In the example below, the Platform Floor and Railing Display Set animations start at the same time as the Ladder Display Set animation.

End-To-Start

Specifies that the Display Set animation with the earliest time starts the relationship group playback. The other Display Set animation paths in the relationship group are automatically sequenced serially in the order of their current start times, such that current display set animation path starts immediately after the previous display set animation path ends. If two or more selected animations start at the same time, the Sequencer schedules them serially in the top to bottom order in the Time Area pane. In the example below, when the Floor (Platform) animation ends, then the Ladder animation starts. When the Ladder animation ends, then the Railing starts. This allows you to show a platform floor being set into place, then a ladder moves onto the floor, and then railing gets placed along the ladder.

Start-To-End

Specifies that the Display Set animation with the latest end time starts the relationship group playback. The software automatically sequences Display Set animations serially in the reverse order of their current end times, such that the current display set animation path ends immediately before the next Display Set animation starts. If two or more chosen Display Set animations end at the same time, then the Sequencer schedules them serially top to bottom. In the example below, the Railing animation must finish for the Ladder animation to start, and the Ladder animation must finish for the Floor (Platform) animation to start.

End-To-End

Specifies that the Display Set animation path with the latest end time among the selected Display Set animations determines the end time for rest of the Display Set animations in the relationship group.
