Edit > Find > Find Differences

Follow the steps below to use Find Differences. When you run this command, Smart Review generates and saves the Find Differences display sets. Subsequent opening of the .svf project causes the display sets to be automatically updated if there are changes in the project .vue files.

You can use the Smart Interop Publisher application to translate Intergraph native and non-native source files into .vue files. Smart Interop Publisher translates and then updates data linkages from Smart 3D and PDS source files consistently. However, be aware that for third-party source file translation and subsequent updates, the data linkage IDs are not maintained and can change. In these cases, Find Differences can no longer compare the objects after the initial translation. A limited solution for this is to use the pre-defined search criteria Find Duplicate Ranges with the Different Geometry display set definition to see a comparison. For more information, see Review and Manage Find Differences Display Sets.

  1. Make sure you have loaded an .svf project containing at least two .vue files to compare. For more information, see Create the .svf project for comparison.

  2. On Edit > Find, clear or select Ranges, Geometry, and Properties.

For Properties, you can only have two .vue files for Property difference display sets to be generated.

  3. Click Edit > Find > Find Differences.

From the Project Manager, you can right-click Find Differences and Project File folders to select Find Differences. You can select specific project files to filter the resulting display sets that are shown. For more information, see Filter Comparison Results.

Smart Review opens the Project Manager and generates display sets based on the differences that are found. Graphic objects in these display sets are shown in representative material colors. The following figure shows an example Find Differences node with Ranges and Geometry options included.

The Items column shows the number of objects in each display set If this number is 0, then there are no differences of the type represented by the display set.

The Material column shows the material name applied to the display set. Transparent materials are represented symbolically with a crosshatch pattern over the color. The default materials in each display set are delivered in SPRDefault.pal in the application installation folder.

For more information on the Find Differences display sets, see Review and Manage Find Differences Display Sets.

  4. You can clear or select display sets to show or hide the changed objects, and use other display set commands to manipulate the view as required.

  5. To turn off Find Differences:

    • Select the Find Differences node in Project Manager, and right click to clear the Material display option.

      -OR-

    • To remove the display sets, select the Find Differences node and right-click to select Delete.

  6. You can run the Find Differences command at any time. Each time you run the command, Smart Review overwrites the current Find Differences display sets and creates new ones.
