User Securities for product groups lets you define the permissions for a user to work with product groups and disciplines. You can assign roles and the access permissions to different pages for each role. You can also activate or de-activate a user.

The View options filter the records based on the Separation of Duties (SOD) violations. SOD is an internal control intended to prevent fraud and error. SoD does not allow a user to have access to more than one set of privileges or menus that fall under a particular SoD definition, unless the exceptions are explicitly defined.

Queryable disciplines restricts users from viewing information other than the discipline that they are logged in to. For example, If a user X logs in using Piping discipline, then the user X can only view data related to the Piping discipline. Smart Materials Administrator can assign multiple disciplines to a user.

With the assignment of disciplines in Queryable Disciplines page, users can view the data of these disciplines in addition to the login discipline data.

Display - enables the display of information related to the discipline.

Discipline Scope - enables the application to integrate the data related to the discipline in the data selection or filtering of Commodity Group, Part, Commodity Code, and Ident.

The project default ZX_QRY_DP controls the use of Discipline Scope.

User Privileges

User privileges control the tasks that individual users can perform. You can set privileges in Smart Materials based on:

  • User - for individual users

  • Role - users having specific role assigned

For example, if a role is created for buyers, and all buyers should have the privilege of PO Approval, then this privilege should be assigned to the role. But if only one of the buyers should have the PO Approval privilege, then this privilege must be assigned to the specific user only. Smart Materials comes with some predefined privileges.
