The Database Sessions screen has multiple uses such as:
-
to identify the database processes responsible and kill sessions, in case a user reports that a session is hanging.
-
for the the administrator to identify if someone else is working with the same screen, when a user encounters data access or locking conflicts.
-
for the administrator to notify all the connected users to log out, in case the database must be shut down.
You can select a display option to filter the displayed sessions. The following display options are available:
All Sessions - (default) All database sessions irrespective of status appear.
Active Sessions - Only the active sessions appear.
Idle Sessions - Only inactive or timed-out sessions appear.
Active BIR Sessions - Only Smart Materials Web (formerly BIR) sessions with validity time less than the SYSDATE appear.
