You can add or update symbol information such as symbol library, symbol library version, symbol code, and part data basis to a commodity code.

  1. Click SRD > XS10 Component Manager > XS1010 Commodity/Ident Management.

  2. Select the Commodity Group/Part/Commodity Code/Ident from the drop-down list at the top of the tree view.

  3. Double-click a commodity part to open the Commodity Codes grid. All the commodity codes for the selected commodity part are displayed in the grid.

If symbol details are not associated to a commodity code, then that commodity code automatically inherits the existing symbol information, if any, from its associated commodity part. The inherited symbol information is displayed in green.

  4. In the Commodity Codes grid, click Edit grid EditGrid.

  5. To add symbol information to an ident, double-click the symbol library name, and then in the Selection list LOV dialog box:

    1. Select the symbol library.

    2. Select the symbol code.

    3. Select the PDB documents

  6. To add symbol image (PDB document view files) to a commodity code, double-click the File name.

  7. Select the file name from the LOV dialog box and click OK.

    • If any symbol image is set as the default image for a symbol code, and you associate that symbol code to the commodity code, then that image is also associated.

    • If you select an image in the Commodity Codes grid, then that image is associated to the commodity code though a symbol code with default image is already associated.

    • When a commodity code data is exported to .xls format, the symbol image name (file name) is displayed in the Microsoft Excel sheet. And the associated symbol code and its symbol image are saved in the local path defined on the Destinations tab. For more information about local path, see Destinations in the Smart Reference Data Help.

  8. Click Save grid SaveGrid and then click Read-only grid ReadOnly to set the grid back to read-only mode.

Right-click the commodity code for which you want to add symbol information from its associated commodity part and click Part Symbol Data.
