As discussed earlier, idents can be created using the CMS functionality. All of these idents have the M_IDENTS.CMS_IND = Y. The classical idents have M_IDENTS.CMS_IND = N. You can manually trigger the process to link the classical idents to CMS classes. Once the classical idents are linked to a CMS class, those idents can be viewed in the CMS Single Ident View and CMS Multi Ident View.

In order to link the classical idents to CMS classes, you must first create common rule types and common rules on the S.90.01 Definition of Common Rules screen. Defining the common rules details (on S.90.01 Window 2) filters the idents to be associated with the CMS classes. You can enter the group, part, commodity code, table name, table group, and so forth, or attribute name and corresponding value in order to filter the idents that will be selected for linking to CMS classes.

Block: Common Rule Types

Fields:

  • Rule Type: Enter the Common Rule Type name in this field.

  • Category: Select the category ‘CMS Classes’ in order to continue the process of linking classical idents with CMS classes.

  • Short Desc: Enter the short description of the Common Rule Type in this field.

  • Description: Enter the description of the Common Rule Type in this field.

  • Process Timestamp: Enter a date and time in this field. The software considers only those idents whose corresponding last modification date and time is greater than the process timestamp.

  • Link Idents: Click this button in order to start the ident linking process for all the common rules under the Common Rule Types.

Block: Common Rules

Fields:

  • Rule: Enter the Common Rule name in this field.

  • Short Desc: Enter the short description of the Common Rule in this field.

  • Description: Enter the description of the Common Rule in this field.

  • Process Timestamp: Enter a date and time in this field. The software considers only those idents whose corresponding last modification date and time is greater than the process timestamp.

  • Link Idents: Click this button in order to start the ident linking process for the corresponding Common Rule.

Block: Common Rule Classes

Fields:

  • Class System Code: Enter or select the class system code corresponding to the class that you intend to select.

  • Short Desc: This field displays the short description of the corresponding class system.

  • Class Code: Enter or select the class code. You can invoke the hierarchical selection list by double-clicking on this field.

  • Short Desc: This field displays the short description of the class.

  • Path: This field displays the hierarchical path of the selected class.

Once the process of linking idents to CMS classes is complete, you can get the idents corresponding to the classes in CMS. Please note that the property values for these classical idents cannot be modified with the CMS functionality.

Also, the properties of the classes can be mapped to either a commodity code or an ident and then with a table or attribute. These mappings are considered while linking the idents with the classes. The following table describes the various combinations of mapping.
