The management of data access control occurs in the Smart Materials application. Each of the data items available for access control has a unique code pre-loaded into the database. Access to these data items, by a given role, is controlled by the relationships on Roles screen (Administration > Global Setup > Roles and Menus – Roles tab) of the Smart Materials application.
All data access codes have a Menu Type of .NET DATA. Their codes are made up of a prefix, identifying the menu under which they reside, a classification letter, and finally a sequence number. The classification letters G, N, and P indicate the type of control: Grid, Node, or Property, respectively.
To learn how to allow or prevent access to data in the Smart Materials application, see
Allowing access to a data item ensures that it is displayed in the software when a user with the relevant role is logged in.
Preventing access to a data item ensures that it is hidden from users with the relevant role.
