  1. Click SRD > Component Manager > Commodity/Ident Management.

  2. Select Commodity Group/Part/Commodity Code from the list.

  3. Click to expand the tree, and double-click the part to which you want to add a commodity code.

  4. Click Edit grid EditGrid.

  5. Click Add row PropertiesNew.

  6. In the new row, enter data for the new commodity code.

  7. Click Save grid SaveGrid.

  8. Click Read-only grid ReadOnly to set the grid back to read-only mode.

  • When you add a new row for a commodity code, a default commodity code fills the Commodity Code field.

  • Once a commodity code is generated, you cannot change the code unless you first change the details or attributes.

  • If a commodity code is used in specification items or in a BOM, its table details and attributes cannot be changed.

  • You can set a commodity code as Disused in the commodity codes grid, to disuse or retire a commodity code. Throughout Smart Reference Data, you can view the Disused commodity code by selecting the Include Disused check box in all the respective commodity code lists.

  • When you add or update a row for a commodity code, you can change the Disused status of a table detail in the Table Details/Link Table Details grid. If any of the table detail is set to Disused, the associated commodity code will also be marked as Disused.

  • In general when you click the Save grid SaveGrid, the commodity code is auto-generated based on the available key structure. If the key structure is empty, then the value entered in the Commodity Code field will be saved as the commodity code when you click the Save grid SaveGrid.

  • To navigate to the corresponding Interface Dependent Commodity Codes or Company Dependent Commodity Codes, you can do one of the following:

    • Right-click on a Commodity Code in the tree view, select Navigate To, and select either Interface Dependent Commodity Codes or Company Dependent Commodity Codes.

    • Select a complete row in the Commodity Codes grid view, right-click and select Navigate To, and select either Interface Dependent Commodity Codes or Company Dependent Commodity Codes.
