The FL indicators show which specification items belong to which filter line. You can change the FL values in the upper filter line area, but you cannot change the FL values in the resulting spec items area.

For example, consider a filter line with a value of 10 resulting in two spec items, and another filter line with a value of 30 resulting in four spec items. The grid beneath the Generate button shows two rows with FL=10 and four rows with FL=30.

Copying filter lines

When you copy a filter line from other specifications, the sizes are trimmed according to the main material sizes.

For example, if the main material has From of 1.00 and To of 10.00 and the selected filter line has From1 of 0.5 and To1 of 24, the value 0.5 is trimmed to 1 and the value 24 is trimmed to 10.

  • This behavior applies to From1 and To1 as well as From2 and To2 values.

  • If the filter line sizes do not completely fall in the main material size range, the filter line is not copied.

Option codes

For option codes, click the browse Browse button to the right of the Option column. The software displays a selection list with valid option codes, depending on the short codes defined in the Short Code/Group/Part grid.

You can enter an option code on the filter line with the following guidelines.

  • If there is no Selection list LOV for the Option cell, all values are allowed.

  • If there is a Selection list LOV for the Option cell, only the values from the Selection list LOV and 1 are allowed.

For more information about option code selection list, see Table Detail Dependencies.

The option codes are considered during commodity code generation. If the option code in the filter line is empty (blank), the software considers all filtering defaults regardless of the option code, if the defaults fall in the same size range as the size range in the filter line.

The option codes are also considered when you select commodity codes in the result area.

Limit to part

Use the Limit to Part column to limit the selected filter line to a particular part. It is possible to have multiple filter lines with the same option code and size range, but with different parts.

SHARED Tip The Limit to Part selection list is filtered if you specify a Limit to Group (commodity group filter) first.

Short codes

In order to specify a short code in the filter line grid, you must first specify a value in the Limit to Part cell. Then you can click the Selection list LOV in the Short Code cell. When the short code is specified, the software takes the short code into consideration during the generation of specification items.

SHARED Tip In order to display the Limit to Group, Limit to Part and Short Code columns, click the Limit to Group? box above the component group area.

Materials

If the Material System value is entered in the filter line or filtering defaults, the Material table details are filtered depending on this value. This applies to all component groups.

For component groups with identifier=M (Piping component group), when you do not enter a Material System value in the filter line or filtering defaults, the Material table is filtered depending on the values entered on the Cover page for the material system.
