Quotation calculation is based on work phases, price lists, and properties of the quoted product defined in the system. Properties of a product are, for example, geometrical form, surface handlings, and the required material with material certificate. Accordingly, the customer of the order and site of the sales quotation affect the pricing. Before Smart Production Sales can be used in quotation calculation, the system must be configured.

Customer

In the Smart Production system, customer data is managed with Smart Production Customers. Customer data includes addresses of the customer and contact persons, language of the document, currency, price group, invoicing conditions, delivery conditions, and so forth. In the quotation calculation, the most important data considering the pricing is the currency together with the price group. Other customer data affects the delivery conditions and the contents of the quotation document.

Site

In the Smart Production system, data about the site is managed with Smart Production System Settings. The working groups of the site, their workplaces, and their respective work phases are described in this application. This data is needed when the offered work phases are assigned to the correct workplaces.

Article Registry

In the Smart Production system, article data is managed with Smart Production Inventory. This registry includes basic data about material articles like raw material plates and profiles. For example, this data includes material dimensions, material qualities and densities, as well as meter weight of profile raw material.

Work phase

In Smart Production Sales, in addition to production work phases also other price affecting factors are defined as work phases. These include costs relative to material sales and to, for example, position-specific calculated cargo. The quantity calculation of a work phase is one of the most important elements of the quotation calculation. The quantity calculation can give as the quantity to be invoiced time (h), weight (kg), count, cutting meters, or basically anything. When it comes to real loading work phases, also the working time must always be calculated so that the loading of the workshop can be estimated reliably. For example, flame cutting can be priced according to cut meters, but the workshop will be booked based on time.

Work phases are managed through Smart Production System Settings. The calculation rules are defined in this application. To the calculation rules, separate tables can be created of which contents are often managed through separate customer-specific views.

Cost Price

Material and work phase cost prices are related to the sites which are defined in Smart Production System Settings. Prices are managed through Smart Production Price. Cost price is the reference price of the site in question and selling below this price is basically loss-making. Cost price is determined according to the cost structure of the site. Smart Production system does not calculate it, but the person responsible for prices must define it and give it to the Smart Production system. The price can also originate from the ERP-system through an interface. If no cost price can be found while making a quotation, a notification is displayed to the user.

Sales Price

Sales prices of material and work phases depend on price groups which are defined in Smart Production Price. Prices are managed with Smart Production Price. A customer can either belong to a price group, or a price group can be defined as the default price group.

In the price calculation, the search of customer sales price occurs as follows:

  • If the customer belongs to a price group which has a defined price, this price is used.

  • If no price can be found, the sales price is taken from the default price group.

  • If a price coefficient is defined for the price group of the customer, the sales price is calculated as the cost price multiplied with the price coefficient.

  • If a price coefficient is defined for the default price group, the sales price is calculated as the default price multiplied with the price coefficient.

  • If no price can be found, the user is notified
