You can use Auxiliary Graphics to add simple graphics to your Smart P&ID drawings. When you have completed adding graphics using Auxiliary Graphics, these graphics display in your Smart P&ID drawing inside a SmartFrame. The SmartFrame and its contents are stored in the database.

To work in Auxiliary Graphics mode, choose the Insert > Auxiliary Graphics Command (Edit Menu).

The Auxiliary Graphics Draw toolbar contains commands for working with continuous lines and arcs, tangent arcs, curves, free form drawing, circles, rectangles, fillets, text and so forth. The Draw toolbar displays down the left side of the drawing sheet (as shown in the example graphic). Note that any Smart P&ID command not available during the Auxiliary Graphics session is disabled.

To change the order of the elements in a SmartFrame, right-click inside the SmartFrame and on the shortcut menu, select one of the following commands:

  • Pull Up — Moves one or more selected elements or element groups up one position in the display order.

  • Push Down — Moves one or more selected elements or element groups down one position in the display order.

You can customize the Auxiliary Graphics Draw toolbar using the Tools > Customize command. The available commands display with (Auxiliary) following the command name. Toolbar choices include:

  • Draw (Auxiliary)

  • Features (Auxiliary)

  • Trim (Auxiliary)

  • Extend (Auxiliary)

  • Group (Auxiliary)

  • Manipulation (Auxiliary)

  • Priority (Auxiliary)

  • Edit (Auxiliary)

  • Relations (Auxiliary)

  • Text (Auxiliary)

For information about how to customize a toolbar, refer to Customize Command (Tools Menu).

  • Any customizations made to the Draw toolbar are not saved when you close the Auxiliary Graphics session.

  • The Undo buffer is cleared each time you enter an Auxiliary Graphics session. The Smart P&ID Undo buffer is also cleared at this time.

  • It is not possible to switch off Auxiliary Graphics.

  • Auxiliary Graphics cannot be placed or viewed on the Typical layer of a drawing.
