The following conditions need to be kept in mind when copying a BOM Setup:

  1. You should be logged in with the destination project to which you would like to copy the BOM setup.

  2. Only those projects can be chosen as copy base (source) that use the same product group as the current project.

To each of the both projects exist ONLY one assignment PROJECT <--> PRODUCT GROUP

  3. All setup data for which the check box has been checked will be copied from the selected project to the current project.

  4. In some cases, there are dependencies among the data which means that sometimes a check box must be checked if another one has been checked. The various dependencies pertaining to each item are defined below:

    1. Copy from Project: You can enter only those projects in this field to which the same product group has been assigned as to the project you are currently logged in. You can also choose your own project as copy base, but in this case, it is only possible to choose the radio button for copying from one special discipline to another one. If you choose your own discipline it is not possible to choose the same disciplines for origin and target.

    2. Verification: If this check box is checked all verifications that have been defined in the source project will be copied to the current project (including the NLS-information).

    • If at least one record is already available for the current project, the copy-functionality will do nothing.

    • Only those records will be copied from the source project where:

      • The discipline is also assigned to the current project.

      • b. The assigned where condition (if exists) in source project belongs to the product group.

      • c. Not available in the current project.

    1. List Status: While copying list statuses, if at least one record is already available for the current project, the copy-functionality will do nothing.

    2. Node Types: While copying node types, if at least one record is already available for the current project, the copy-functionality will do nothing. Those node types are not included into the copy functionality, where the related icon is not defined in the product group. Only those properties are included in the copy functionality, which belong to the product group.

    3. Position Properties: While copying position properties, you should remember that those properties are not copied which are not defined in the product group. Also, those properties are not copied which have specified a target. Furthermore, those entries are not copied where the group is not defined in the product group. If at least one record is already available for the current project, the copy-functionality will do nothing.

    4. BOM Rules: While copying BOM rules, if at least one record is already available for the current project, the copy-functionality will do nothing. Only rule groups of type BOM_Copy and their ruler will be copied into the current project.

    5. BOM Views: While copying BOM views, if at least one record is already available for the current project, the copy-functionality will do nothing. Also, The list view property-entries are also project dependent. Only those entries which are made in the product group will be copied in the list-user-view-properties.

    6. Append: This check box allows user to copy BOM Views from the source project even though there exists some BOM Views in destination project. This check box will be enabled only when the BOM Views check box is checked. When user specific BOM View exists in the destination project then the user specific BOM Views from source project will not get copied into the destination project.

    7. Node-Type Hierarchy: While copying node type hierarchies, if at least one record is already available for the current project, the copy-functionality will do nothing. Also, only those disciplines which also belong to the current project will be taken for the copy-functionality. Furthermore, an incomplete hierarchy is not possible, which means that if a node type is missing after the copy-functionality, for example the icon is defined in the project and not in the product group, which is included in the node-type hierarchy, the whole hierarchy is not available in the current project.

    8. Issue Status: While copying issue status, if at least one record is already available for the current project, the copy-functionality will do nothing.

    9. Discipline BOM Views: While copying Discipline BOM Views, nothing happens in following cases:

      • 1. At least one record is already available for the current project and discipline.

      • 2. Records from BOM Views within the current discipline referenced in the Attribute Security page which are not created by the product group.

      • 3. Records found (source) must have the same list view (assigned in the Project Groups/ Projects page) as the current login.

    10. Login Discipline / Discipline / All Disciplines: If you decide for 'Login Discipline' only records of the discipline you are currently logged in are copied. If you decide for 'Discipline' the values from one special discipline of the chosen project are copied to one special discipline of the login project. Therefore values for the two items on the right hand side are required to choose the just mentioned disciplines. If you select 'All Disciplines' the records of all disciplines that have been assigned to the target project (the project you are currently logged in) are copied.

    11. From Discipline: This item is used when you want to copy from one special discipline to another special discipline. You can choose from the disciplines belonging to the origin project (the project you want to copy data from).

    12. To Discipline: This item is used when you want to copy from one special discipline to another special discipline. You can choose from the disciplines belonging to the target project (the login project, the project you want to copy data to).
