Why is it necessary to define a node type hierarchy?

With the definition of the node type hierarchy you ensure that a fixed structure of the node types is enforced in the work breakdown structure (WBS). The hierarchy structure comes into effect only when the project default ZB_BOMHIER (Free BOM Structure) is set to N. If ZB_BOMHIER is set to N and no entries are available in Node Type Hierarchy page, it is not possible to create list nodes.

Node-TypeHierarchy

  1. On the Home page, click Bill of Materials > SETUP > Node Type Hierarchy.

  2. Click Add Row.

  3. Select the node type from the Node Type select list.

  4. Select the parent node type from the Parent Node Type select list.

Each node type has an assigned parent node type, except the first node which is null.
