The request for information (RFI) option allows you to create, view and maintain RFIs and submit questions to the buyer.

SHARED Tip By default, only the bidder's RFIs are displayed. To view all available RFIs, select the All RFIs check box.

  1. Click Questions/Answers - Request for Information on the menu.

  2. Click Add RFI AddIcon to create a new RFI.

  3. Type the subject of this RFI in the Subject box.

  4. If not the login user is requesting the information, enter the name of the individual who is requesting information in the From box, or click From LOVButton and select a name from the list.

  5. If needed, type or update the phone number in the Telephone Number box.

  6. If you want to send this RFIs to additional email recipients, type the addresses, separated by commas.

  7. To specify the RFI type, select Technical or Commercial from the list.

  8. Type your question in the Question box.

  9. If you want to attach files to the RFI, do the following:

    • Click Attach File.

    • Click Browse, select a file, and click Open.

    • Click Submit to upload the file.

      • If file does not upload, you can click the file name to open a logfile.

      • Depending on the setup, file upload might work different, without showing Browse and Submit.

  10. Click Send.

    SHARED Tip To cancel the new RFI, click Cancel.

  • The highlighted envelope RFIread indicates that the RFI was read and answered by the contractor. The grey envelope RFIunread means the RFI has not been answered yet.

  • If the contractor has set the RFI's Status to Closed, you can no longer add questions or answers.

Add a question to an existing RFI

  1. Select the open request for information from the list on the left side of the page.

  2. If it's not the login user requesting the information, type or select the name in the From box.

  3. Optionally, type the telephone number.

  4. Type the question in the Question box.

  5. Click Send.

Answer a question

  1. Select the open request for information from the list on the left side of the page.

  2. Click Reply ReplyIcon.

  3. Optionally, if not the login user is providing the answer, click From LOVButton and select a name from the list.

  4. Type the answer in the Answer box.

  5. Click Send.
