Inventory function helps you track material in the warehouse, work yard, or laydown area. Physical Inventory Count Sheets (PICSs) are created in Smart Materials which can then be assigned to users by a foreman/manager.

The PICS will be for a specific warehouse and location and will detail the inventory on-hand according to Smart Materials. In order to process a PICS, the user must have the Inventory role in Smart Materials (Inventory Role), PICS Rule (allows you to process the PICS), and must be assigned the PICS by a foreman/manager. At no point will the user conduct the PICS or know what the on-hand quantity of line item should be. The intent is to allow the users to record what they physically see at the specified warehouse and record this information in MobileScan. Once the users have completed their inventory specified, they will inform the office that the job is completed, and the final verification will be done in Smart Materials.

The following diagram displays the inventory process:

  1. Tap Inventory tile on the home screen. The number of PICS assigned to the user will be indicated in brackets.

  2. Select the PICS to process.

A PICS will only be visible if there is at least one line item on the report. If there are no line items on the report, you will not be able to select that PICS.

Once the PICS is selected, you can view the details of the report, for example the PICS number, the project name, the line items, and the warehouse location.

  3. Tap to scan barcodes.

The scanned quantity always starts at zero when commencing this task.

Once the PICS has been completed, tap Done Button 3/23/2016 to indicate to a foreman or materials controller that the report has been completed and is ready for final review and posting in Smart Materials.

The next screen displays the material details of specific line items on the PICS. The expected quantity will not be known by the user processing the PICS. They will only know how many of the items they have scanned so far.
