When you try to login, it shows MAR-05005, MAR-05012 or "Maximum number of concurrent users exceeded. Do you want to kill sessions" (Classic only). Or, in other words: You did not get any errors which indicate that the problem is in the setup of license webservice.

Login to the license webservice machine. Open the ISL Client as an Administrator and switch to the History tab. Do you see a request which matches the user name and time you tried to login?

  • If not, the license request did not arrive at the ISL client. In this case you can query the m_lic_log_messages table to find what is going on in the communication between DB and license webservice.

  • If you have a success message on the History tab but still cannot login, it is an inconsistency as described in Problems due to Upgrades / Updates. In this case you can query the m_lic_log_messages table to find what is going on in the communication between DB and license webservice.

  • If you see an error message in the history tab, what does it read?

Unable to obtain license.

Is there additional information attached to this message?

Unable to obtain license; no license is available for this version of <a license tag>.

Probably the license tag in the license key has a fixed maximum version, and the product version you are using is higher. Check the licensing portal and review your keystores.

Unable to obtain license from keystore; keystore <a keystore name> is not responding.

This is an issue which you should forward to Hexagon support.

Some ISL error in the table shown in You get an Error Message.

Refer to the mentioned table of ISL error messages.

Generally, keep in mind that the error shown in the application UI perhaps only tells you a part of the truth, why your request was rejected. For example, the message that no more licenses for SPMAT are available, is just the result of the last check performed. The software might have failed to get a license for several modules due to project limits or version restriction, before it came to check for SPMAT and found that all seats were exhausted by other users.
