For the installation, you must run the setup program on the application server, the Oracle client must be installed on the application server, and you must be able to connect to the Smart Materials database from the application server.

  1. Open the SMat folder on the product DVD.

  2. Double-click MAT.exe to launch the installer.

    If you are not logged in as an administrator, right-click MAT.exe and select Run as administrator.

    If some of the prerequisites are not installed, the installer displays a list. In such a case, install the missing prerequisites and then click Try Again.

  3. Click Start Setup.

  4. Type your user name and the company name.

  5. Type the URL of the server (the machine that is accessible by the IIS).

    If you don’t want to use the standard port 80, append the URL with : and the port number, for example, <SMat_IIS_Web_Server>. Additionally, follow the instructions under Using Non-Standard Ports to add the port in the IIS Manager.

  6. Type the database TNS name.

  7. Type the password of database user M_SERVICE.

  8. If required, change the default installation path.

  9. Select the features you want to install.

  10. Click Install.

  11. Click Yes on the Post Install Scripts message to automatically run the post installation scripts.

    If you click No, you must run the post installation scripts manually (see Run Post Installation Scripts).

  12. Select your country from the list to view the license agreement in your language.

    SHARED Tip You can click the Print button to print the license agreement.

  13. Select I agree to the license agreement and conditions, and click Install.

  14. If you have clicked Yes on the Post Install Scripts message, do the following:

    • A Command Prompt window opens. Type the database name, user name (m_service), and password (m_service password).

    • When prompted, press any key to continue.

    • When the script installation is finished, the log file is displayed.

    • Check the log file for error messages.

    • If you find any error messages, contact the support.

  15. When the installation completes successfully, select View Readme and click Finish.

    The Smart Materials Readme file is displayed.
