SPLM

SmartPlant License Manager is an Intergraph product used for licensing Smart Materials and Smart Reference Data versions 8.3 and lower.

ISL

Intergraph Smart Licensing is the successor product of SPLM and the current licensing software.

Keystore

Is a means of bundling a set of keys with their relevant information. Keystores reside in the cloud. A keystore can be compared to a license machine in SPLM.

License Pool

If the current document mentions a 'license pool', it is referring to the pleroma of keys stored in any accessible keystore.

License Tag / License Module

Is the keyword for a product, application, component or feature of licensed software. In Smart Materials/Smart Reference Data, license tags are sometimes referred to as 'license modules'. License modules appear in the Intergraph pricebook.

Seat/License

Is a single unit of a license tag which is consumed for usage of licensed software. Sometimes a seat is also named 'license'.

ISL Client

Is the client component of Smart Licensing. The ISL client requests and returns seats from and to the license pool. In case of our product, it resides on the same node with the license service.

License Service

Sometimes called license webservice or Smart Materials License Service or similar. It is a web component developed for and delivered with the Smart Materials and Smart Reference Data products. The license service runs in an application pool of Microsoft IIS. The Smart Materials and Smart Reference Data applications will call the webservice to request seats from the ISL-client (The ISL-client software also has a service component, but this is not referred to in this section).

Licensing Portal

ISL portal is the current online portal to maintain licenses. It replaces eLicense portal.

CCI-File

An encrypted file containing configuration connection information (CCI). It is loaded into the ISL client for him to know where he should get licenses. Client configurations are maintained in the cloud and the cci file is the pointer to one of these configurations.

Customer- Hosted- Licensing

Customer-hosted-licensing (CHL) is a mode of operation, where two companies work on the same Smart Materials project (in a joint venture) in the environment of one of both companies, each with its own employees, and each with their own keystores to retrieve the seats from.
