The Oracle Forms/Reports 12.2.1+ versions come with an existing prepackaged older version of SQL Developer. This older version contains vulnerable versions of the log4j jar file(s). What is required is that the SQL Developer directory located in the $ORACLE_HOME directory is deleted and then the latest SQL Developer needs to be installed in its place, maintaining the same directory structure. The latest version of SQL Developer, at the time of writing this document, containing Log4jReleaseVersion: 2.17.1, is 21.4.2, downloadable from https://www.oracle.com/tools/downloads/sqldev-downloads.html.

1. To avoid error messages during Forms and Reports installation, ensure that you have the following packages installed before you start the installation:

   • Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4

   • Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2010

   • Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2013

   • Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 - 2017 - 2018 - 2022.

2. Right-click the setup_fmw_12.2.1.19.0_fr_win64.exe and select Run as administrator from the menu.

   

3. Click Next to complete steps 1 and 2.

4. Click Browse and select the Oracle home path, for example: C:\iAS_12c.

5. Click View to view the details, then click Next.

   

   

6. Click Next to complete step 4.

7. Select the new JDK Home and click Next.

   

   On Windows 2019, ignore this error message if it appears:

   

   To avoid this error message, install:

   • Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4

   • Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2010

   • Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2013

   • Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 - 2017 - 2018 - 2022.

8. Click Next.

9. Click Install.

10. If installation progress is 100% click Finish.
