A routing method is a list of destinations describing the journey material will travel on its way from the supplier to the construction site, and it is used to calculate expediting dates.

  1. In the Master Data navigation panel, select Procurement > Routing Methods.

  2. Select an existing delivery designation and click in the Delivery Designation cell.

Alternatively, do the following to create a new delivery designation:

    1. Click Add Delivery Designation Com_Add ICON.

    2. Click Delivery Type Com_LOV_Add ICON and select a type or enter a new type.

    3. For a new delivery type, enter the description in Short Description and Description.

    4. In Delivery Designation, type the name of the delivery designation.

    5. Enter the description in Short Description and Description.

    6. Click Save.

  3. Click the Routing Methods tab.

  4. Click Add Routing Method Com_Add ICON.

  5. Optionally, select Copy from an existing Routing Method, click Routing Method Com_LOV_Add ICON and select the routing method from which you want to copy.

  6. Type the name in the New Routing Method box and click Add.

If Extended Expediting is activated (project default ZP_NEW_EXP set to Y), you must define routing method schedules to proceed.

  7. Optionally, type the routing method description in Short Description and Description.

  8. After saving the routing method, click Add Destination Com_Add ICON.

  9. Type the sequence number in the Seq cell. This defines the destination sequence at the delivery route.

  10. Select the destination in the Destination cell.

SHARED Tip If you type a new destination, it will automatically be stored and available for future selections.

  11. Enter the number of days that are required to deliver the material from the previous to the current destination in the Transit Days cell.

SHARED Tip Type 0 (zero) if it's the final destination.

  12. From the Date Type list, select the type of date this destination represents.

  13. Select the Delivery Date check box if this destination represents the contractual delivery date.

This indicator must be set for exactly one destination in each routing method if project default ZP_NEW_EXP is set to Y.

  14. Select the Main Destination check box if this destination is regarded as the main destination of this routing method. This means, the main transport of a routing method starts at this point and ends at the next destination (for example shipment, flight, transportation by train).

This indicator must be set for exactly one destination in each routing method if project default ZP_NEW_EXP is set to Y.

  15. Add further destinations as described above and click Save.

The total of transit days of this routing method is calculated and displayed on the left in the Transit Days cell next to Routing Method. If project default ZP_NEW_EXP is set to Y, only the transit days of the destinations with an order sequence equal to or higher than that of the destination marked as the delivery date are considered for this calculation.
