Before you maintain the released quantity of the material, you should check if the material is correctly allocated to the requisitions. At the beginning of a project or when new material is introduced to the design, it might happen that material is not covered by the where conditions and templates or incorrectly assigned to requisitions.

For the material not included in the requisition definitions, a special node/requisition was created to collect the leftovers. This node is defined as the last in the sequence and with a where condition assigned that simply fetches all material. This node makes sure that all material that could not be placed on any of the other requisitions lands on this leftover requisition. Thus, this material is highlighted as new or not covered by the existing rules and templates.

This material on the leftover requisition must be reviewed and included on ‘regular’ requisitions by changing one of the existing templates or creating new nodes/templates.

When the review is finished and the necessary nodes and templates are created, you must re-run the MTO job to allocate the material correctly to the requisitions.

If this leftover node/template does not exist, the only trace of unallocated materials is in the MTO log file, which is much more difficult to review than the leftover requisition.
