Commodity rules are defined on the S.10.01 Commodity Rules screen. Either use an existing rule or create a new one.

Enter the name of the commodity rule in the Rule field and the rule descriptions in the Short Desc and Description fields.

On the Commodity Attributes tab, select the name of the commodity tables from the LOV in the Tablename field, to specify the properties of the assembly commodity codes.

Commodity tables are defined on the A.50.02 Tables screen, the table groups on the S.20.01 Tablenames with Groups screen, and table details on the S.20.02 Tablenames with Details screen. The table details represent the commodity code properties, and they are used to build the commodity codes.

Click the Next Block button to open Window 2, where the actual rule that is used to automatically build the commodity codes based on the selected table details is defined.

Enter a unique sequence number in the Digit Id field. This number defines the digit of the commodity code. In the Tablename field, select the table name from the LOV. The tables assigned to the rule on Window 1, and the physical tables M_COMMODITY_GROUPS and M_PARTS, are available for selection.

When the rule is defined, click the Next Block button to open Window 3, where the commodity code layout is defined.

You can enter any text, or select the table names assigned to this rule from the LOV. The suffix _short or _long is added automatically.
