Purpose

This section explains how to manually create BOM (Bill of Materials) positions.

Exercise

  1. Open the B.20.03 Adv. Maintain BOM screen from the menu branch Smart Materials > E&PI (BOM) > B.20 Maintain BOM.

  2. Right-click the PIPING node in the node tree on the left, and select Expand All to expand the entire WBS tree.

  3. Double-click the sheet 01 underneath PIPING > A100 > NF-12004. This node has the path /PIPING/A100/NF-12004/01.

The software opens Window 2 of B.20.03, displaying the Multi Position View tab.

  4. Click the Single Bulk Material View tab to open and display this tab.

Position 10 was automatically filled in the Pos field corresponding to the project default settings ZB_LPSTART and ZB_LP_INC. The Unit field was set according to the project default ZB_UNIT_ID, the issue status was set in the Status field according to ZB_STAT_ID, and the list status was set in the List Status field according to ZB_LST_ID.

  5. Click into the Spec Code field, and then click the List of Values button to open the LOV. Select the SDB_1CS150 spec from the list, and click OK.

  6. The LOV on the Short Code field opens automatically, displaying all the short codes assigned to the selected spec. Select the short code PIP from the list, and click OK.

  7. The LOV on the Option Code field opens automatically, displaying the option codes used in the spec for the selected short code. Select option code 1 from the list, and click OK.

  8. Click into the Size1 field, and click the List of Values button to open the LOV. Select the size1=4/size2=S-STD from the list, and click OK.

You have entered all necessary information to create a BOM position.

  9. Click the Save button to save the changes.

Because the project default ZB_COMMIT is set to Y, the storage of the position has automatically triggered the execution of the FIND_IDENT verification. As a result, the ident was found based on the entered spec, short code, option and sizes. With the ident, the Group, Part, Commodity Code, Ident Code, and Ident Nls/Commodity Code Layout Short fields were filled by this procedure.

The attributes INS-TYPE, SF, and COMPONENTTYPE were added to the Position Values tab corresponding to the position attribute definition.

  10. Create additional BOM positions in the same way as described above. Here are the details:

  15. Enter P in the Group field, PP in the Part field, 4 in the Size1 field, and S-STD in the Size2 field. All values can also be selected from an LOV.

  16. Click the button to display all idents matching the search criteria.

  17. Click the ident you want to select for the BOM position, and click the button.

The S.80.04 screen closes, and the selected ident with the associated group, part, commodity code, and ident Nls/commodity code layout is inserted in the BOM position on B.20.03.

  18. Change the unit to m in the Unit field, and then click the Save button to save the changes.

  24. Click the Save button to save the changes.

  25. View the result on the Multi Position View tab.
