When you select a preliminary packing list (PPL) of a requisition or an order, the Traffic Details window opens, and the details of all preliminary packages are displayed as they have been defined on the PT.20.21 Preliminary Packages screen.

The display of the preliminary packages is ordered by:

  • exceptional material

  • heavy/oversized material

  • general cargo

Within these categories, the preliminary packages are ordered by package number.

The name/number of the preliminary package is displayed in the Package Number field. You can double-click in this field to open the PT.20.21 Preliminary Packages screen. This action works only as long as the data displayed is neither frozen nor belonging to a supplement.

Unless the package is considered to be a lot (that is, you specified its volume directly instead of providing values for its x, y, and z dimensions), the following rules for setting the background color of this field apply:

If the gross weight of the preliminary package exceeds the value of project default ZP_EXC_WGT or its x, y, or z dimension exceeds the value of ZP_EXC_X, ZP_EXC_Y, or ZP_EXC_Z, it is regarded as exceptional and marked by a cyan background color for this field. If the gross weight of the preliminary package exceeds the value of ZP_MAX_WGT but is smaller than the value of ZP_EXC_WGT, it is regarded as heavy and marked by a magenta background color. If the x, y, or z dimension of the preliminary package exceeds the value of ZP_MAX_X/ ZP_MAX_Y/ZP_MAX_Z but is smaller than the value of ZP_EXC_X/ZP_EXC_Y/ZP_EXC_Z, it is regarded as oversized and also marked by a magenta background color.

In the Quantity field, the quantity or number of preliminary packages is displayed. By default, a quantity of 1 is assumed. But to save time or if you do not have detailed information of the packages and their items, you can enter a quantity > 1 (or even of 0) and insert all items in only one package, although in reality the items belong to different packages. The quantity entered here is taken into account when calculating the total volume, weight, and freight tons.

The Gross Weight field shows the gross weight of the preliminary package for a quantity of 1. If any conversion factors are missing, the weight is 0 and the background color of this field is set to red.

For descriptions of the other fields, see Date Ranges.
