If the project default ZP_EXPRULE is set to Y, numbers are automatically created for material certificate summaries (MCS), inspection release certificates (IRC), and release notes (RN). The rules for these automatically generated numbers must be set up on the P.10.78 Expediting Rules screen.

The rule that is used for the individual expediting objects is determined by the assignment of the rules to the following project defaults:

  • ZP_MCSRULE - MSC rules

  • ZP_IRCRULE - IRC rules

  • ZP_RN_RULE - release note rules

For more information about project defaults, see Project Defaults.

To define a rule, enter the rule name in the MCS/IRC/Release Note Rule field and the rule descriptions in the Short Desc and Description fields. The rule is defined in the Rule Definition field. A rule definition consists of a required and an optional part. Its length is limited to 255 numbers/characters.

Required rule part

The required part generates a sequential numbering. The length of this sequence number is variable and depends on the requirements of the user. The length of this sequence number will not be manipulated by suppressing leading zeroes. To identify this part, it must start with the prefix # and to end with the suffix #. Therefore, you must not use this symbol (#) in other parts of the definition. The suffix and the prefix will not show up when a number is created on P.70.72.

A definition for a numbering could look like this:

#00# (The range of serial numbers will be from 01 to 99)

#000# (The range of serial numbers will be from 001 to 999)

#0000# (The range of serial numbers will be from 0001 to 9999)

We recommend that you define a large number range to ensure that numbers can be created at any time in the course of the project. Use the LOV for including this part in your rule definition.

Optional rule parts

Use the optional parts to add information like project numbers, identifications, and more to your number.

Example:

The rule definition:

12345-#000#-MCS

results in:

12345-001-MCS, 12345-002-MCS, 12345-003-MCS, 12345-004-MCS..., and so forth.

Click the More Rules button to open Window 2 where you can define more rules.

Currently, you can set up rules for MMTs (material movement tickets). MMT numbers are always generated automatically. With project default ZP_MMTRULE, you set up which rule is to be applied.
