To expand a node and to view the nodes of the next lower level, click the (plus) symbol in front of the node. To collapse a node and hide the lower levels of this node, click the (minus) symbol in front of the node. If no more sub-nodes are available, no symbol is displayed in front of the node.

When you select any node in the tree, the totals for weight, volume, freight tons, and transport costs of this node are calculated, and a detail window opens that displays these totals as well as the node details (sub-nodes) with their totals.

The metric measurement "freight tons" is the maximum of either the total weight in metric tons or the total volume in cubic meters, whichever is greater.

If any conversion factors are needed but missing on A.10.13 Unit to Unit, a total of 0 (zero) will be assumed for the corresponding object. On the order, release note, and package level, affected objects are marked by a red background color in the Total Weight and Total Volume fields on the detail window.

The displayed totals always refer to the complete node even if you restrict the number of records when querying data. For example, the total weight of a release note is 1,000 kg and you restrict the query to item shipments with a position number greater than 20. The total weight of the displayed item shipments is 250 kg, whereas the total weight of the release note is still 1,000 kg, displayed in the Total Weight field at the bottom.

You can use the buttons on the left side of the tree to expand or collapse the nodes in the tree. Click the button to expand the selected node to view the next lower level and the button to collapse the selected node. Click the button to expand the selected node and all its sub-nodes and the button to collapse the selected node and all its sub-nodes.

To refresh the entire tree, click the button. A refresh might be necessary because of updates processed by engineering, procurement, or expediting that also affect the traffic tree.

Search

If you click the button, a box opens where you can enter/select an order/preliminary packing list/release note/means of conveyance to search for in the tree. Or, you can search for approved release notes, not approved release notes, or material that is expected to arrive next by searching for a specific ETA date, ETD expired, or ETD not expired.

Select the type from the drop-down list in the Traffic Type field; the available values are:

  • Order

  • Preliminary Packing List

  • Release Note

  • Means of Conveyance

  • Approved Release Notes

  • Not Approved Release Notes

  • ETA Date

  • ETD Expired

  • ETD Not Expired

Depending on this selection, the next field is displayed/labeled accordingly. Select the document you want to search for from the LOV, and click the Search button. The searched node(s) will be selected and expanded in the tree, and furthermore, the appropriate window opens where all the details of the selected node are displayed.

For example, if you select the ‘Approved ‘Release Notes’ option, the tree collapses and all approved release notes are selected, as displayed in the picture below.

The legend at the bottom of the tree describes the node icons:

Preliminary Packing List (PPL)

Planned Requisition

Purchase Order (PO)

Packed Release Note

Packed Release Note (approved)

With the display context (on the toolbar on the top of the screen), you can control which data displays when a tree node is selected. The default setting of the context is 'Standard', meaning the second window always shows the details of the next lower nodes. If the context is set to 'Release Notes', the second window always displays only those release notes that have been fully packed and approved and that fulfill the additional conditions of the selected node.

The display context 'Release Notes' only affects nodes 'Forecast' and 'Actual'. The traffic details shown when selecting the '(Frozen) Planned' node or one of its child nodes are always the same regardless of the context.

Fastcall

In the fastcall on the toolbar, you only find the traffic setup screens PT.10.01 and PT.10.02.

All other fastcalls are available as context-sensitive pop-up menus within the tree and on the first item in the detail window.

Please refer to the description of the individual data blocks to find out which fastcalls are actually available on which items.

Depending on the module called via fastcall, the data in the traffic tree is refreshed completely or at least partly after returning to this screen. Of course, this refresh is only necessary and done if changes have been applied in the called module. For example, a data refresh is necessary after a means of conveyance has been created on the PT.20.11 screen. This can cause a release note to be moved from the 'Forecast' to the 'Actual' node.
