The Release Note Number field shows the name/number of the release note. You must assign a routing method to an item shipment before you can place it on a release note. A release note can only be assigned if no non conformity report (NCR) exists or if this NCR has been completed.

If an MCS and/or an IRC are required, these two numbers must be set prior to assigning a release note. Whether an MCS or an IRC is required is determined by the MCS Required and IRC Required check boxes. If an item shipment has been placed on an IRC and the approval of an IRC is required to continue the workflow (project default ZP_IRCAPRQ is set to Y), the IRC must be approved before a release note can be assigned.

Tagged master items for which sub items have been created cannot be assigned to a release note.

Once an item shipment has been placed on a release note, you cannot delete or change the MCS number or quantity, the IRC number, or the IRC quantity or weight.

Item shipments can only be added to a release note as long as it has not been approved.

If you want to place an item shipment on a different release note, you can enter a different release note in this field, but this release note must already exist. Alternatively, you must do this in two steps. In the first step, you delete the entry in the Release Note Number field. In the second step, you open the Release Notes tab, create a new release note number, and assign the item shipment to it by double-clicking the release note number or by clicking the Details button and inserting the item shipment.

All items on a release note must belong to the same order. In other words, only release notes of the order shown in the first block are available. You cannot select a release note of a different order.

Delivery designation, routing method, incoterm, and delivery place of the item shipments on a release note must be identical. Therefore, the list of values only contains the release notes the values of which match those of the selected item shipment. Moreover, the date of a release note must be greater than the date of the IRC of the item shipment if an IRC has been assigned. Release notes the date of which is earlier than that of the IRC are not available.

One destination of the item shipment's routing method is defined as the delivery date, indicated by the selected Delivery Date check box. When a release note is assigned to an item shipment, the delivery date of the release note is copied over to the Forecasted Date field of this destination.

You cannot remove the release note of an item shipment if a package item based on this release note has already been created for the item shipment.

To see the heat numbers of the item shipments of a release note number, you can double-click in this field. The software opens the Heat Numbers tab with the query context 'Release Note.'

The Release Note Date field shows the date of the release note. You can update this date on the Release Notes tab.

The Release Note Quantity field shows the quantity of the item shipment on the release note.

This quantity cannot be greater than the quantity on the IRC, or greater than the quantity on the MCS if no IRC has been assigned, or greater than the quantity of the item shipment itself if neither MCS nor IRC have been assigned.

If the quantity on a release note is smaller than the quantity of the item shipment on the IRC, MCS, or the item shipment quantity itself (depending on what has been assigned), a new item shipment is automatically created. The quantity of this new item shipment is the quantity of the old item shipment reduced by the quantity of the release note. This new item shipment can then be placed on a different release note. At the same time, the quantity of the old item shipment and its IRC quantity are reduced to the value of the release note. The IRC is copied over on the new item shipment. The MCS number is also copied over from the old to the new item shipment whereas the outstanding work list is reset. Actual and forecasted expediting dates are not copied over either. A new forecasted delivery date for the new item shipment must be entered in the Forecasted Delivery Date field. Attributes that are attached to the old item shipment are also copied to the new item shipment. Generally, the item shipment line item number of the new item shipment is the highest one available for the corresponding order line item increased by 1, and the sub line item number is set to 1. Only for sub items of a tagged master item the item shipment line item number is copied over and the sub line item number is increased by 1 instead. If necessary, the quantity of package items that have been created for the old item shipment on the P.70.74 Packages screen is adjusted because you can only place the release note quantity at most in packages.

You can only update the release note quantity if the release note has not yet been approved. If project default ZP_CHGRELN is set to Y and you have the CHANGE RELN AFTER APPROVAL privilege, you can change the release note quantity even after the approval of the release note.

The Release Note Weight field shows the weight of the item shipment for a quantity of 1 on the release note. If an IRC has been assigned to an item shipment, the weight on the IRC is copied over by default when assigning a release note to the item shipment. If an IRC does not exist but an MCS does exist, the weight on the MCS is copied over. If neither MCS nor IRC have been assigned, the item shipment weight is used instead.

The Total RN Weight field shows the total weight of the item shipment on the release note, calculated as the release note quantity * release note weight per unit.

The RN Weight Unit field shows the weight unit of the release note. You can update this unit on the Release Notes tab.
