  • Smart Licensing has fully redundant instances running in different geographic locations. The secondary, or redundant, Smart Licensing instance is an exact, up-to-the-moment replica of the primary instance. If the primary Smart Licensing instance goes offline, an automatic switchover takes place. Ordinarily, this happen in a matter of minutes, and you should not notice it.

  • If you try to access a license during the actual switchover, you will get a notice that Smart Licensing is offline. At that point you should wait a few minutes and try again. Once the switchover is completed and the you try to access the license again, you should be able to work as usual, not knowing that Smart Licensing is running from Hexagon's secondary Smart Licensing instance for that geographic location.
