When a new software license key is produced using Smart Licensing, it's immediately available for the users. It's no longer necessary for Hexagon to manually generate and email license keys to the customer’s license administrator, who then had to cut and paste these keys into the instance of SmartPlant License Manager.

Many customers cut an updated software license key each month. The key is adjusted by Hexagon and based on the next month’s forecasted need. Smart Licensing enables the production of the next month’s software license key in advance, and the new license key automatically goes into service on the first day of the that next month.

The customer’s license administrators are able to produce a new software license key, or update an existing key, from any device (smartphone, tablet, laptop, desktop, and so forth) from anywhere, provided they have internet or cellular connectivity.

Currently, SmartPlant License Manager supports checkout of keys for a limited number of software products only. These products include Smart Review and SmartSketch. Smart Licensing supports the checkout of key for Smart Review, SmartSketch, Spoolgen, Smart Isometrics, CADWorx, CAESAR II, FEATools, GT STRUDL, NozzlePro, OrthoGen, PV Elite, and Visual Vessel Design.
