When the 3D view is active, you can switch between a symbolic or solid view of the model in the Detail window. The symbolic representation displays a line-based view of the model; the solid, or rendered, representation displays a more three-dimensional view of the model. The examples below display the two graphical representation types, with the symbolic representation on the left and the solid representation on the right:
-
Select View > 3D View > Representation.
-
In the sub-menu, select one of the graphical representations, Symbolic or Solid.
The software updates the graphical representation of the model in the 3D View window.
-
You can toggle between the two representation types only when the 3D view is active. To toggle the 3D view on and off in Smart Isometrics, select Show on the 3D View toolbar. In Intergraph Spoolgen, select Hide/Show 3D View on the View toolbar.
-
Symbolic mode is useful for viewing welds in the model, as shown below.
-
Producing rendered graphics is resource intensive and should only be used with small pipeline data files or on hardware with powerful 3D rendering capabilities.
