Redis is an open source (BSD licensed), in-memory data structure store used as a database, cache, and message broker. ISIP Web API uses Redis as a database to keep track of non-persistent translation requests. However, if Redis is not installed, the non-persistent URLs do not function. You can install Redis on a Linux server or use a hosted Redis service. For the best performance, we recommend installing Redis on a computer with at least two cores on the same network subnet as the IIS server.

By default, Redis is not shared for remote access. In the Smart Interop Publisher Web API, you must have a shared Redis connection between the Web Server and all the available Smart Interop Publisher Server systems. Hence, you must enable remote access for Redis connection.

  1. Go to the Redis installation folder (for example, C:\Program Files\Redis).

  2. Open the file and:

    1. Comment the line bind by adding a leading pound sign symbol ‘#’.

    2. Set Protected-mode to no. By default, it is set to yes.
